Lighting Up the Dark: Celebrating 7 Years of Night Eye
Seven years ago I was wrestling with yet another “free” dark‑mode extension. Pages were unreadable, bug fixes arrived weeks late—if at all—and the maintainers had little reason to prioritise something they gave away for nothing. Frustrated, I opened a blank editor and built my own dark‑mode engine.
It worked so well that my three future co‑founders and I realised we could create a dark‑mode tool people could truly rely on. Shipping it for $9 per year felt audacious in a world that assumed browser add‑ons should be free, yet that modest fee has funded the talent, servers, and relentless iteration that brought us here.
